Interview with Gus Hansen after the WPT Championship

Gus Hansen has eliminated all the players except one at the final table of the WPT $ 25,000 Championship last weekend.
David Chiu, who he’s been good during the final stages, while Gus destroy opponents, has managed a great comeback in the final and took away the Danish title is almost certain.

Card PlayerGus, how are you feeling now?

Hansen: Well, honestly I’m really dipiaciuto. I know that I just won 1.7 million dollars, but in my mind there is still the thought of having lost another 1.7 million.

CPHow you played the tournament?

Hansen: My game is really good at this time. I feel I have experienced in many aspects and nuances than a couple of years ago. I think I’ve found a good balance between aggressive play and intuitive. This helps me to put even more pressure to opponents and exploit the right time.

CP: Tell us about the ‘heads-up against David Chiu.

Hansen: I think I made a mistake in ‘heads-up. I did not bet on the flop 5-5-4 after preflop (David Chiu has also got to do with the river), but otherwise I am very pleased with the game delivered. David Chiu has folded at the right times, when I reraise with JJ, KK and AA but decided to call with 5-5 when I reraise with 2-2.
Most of the time I had the second best hand “when Chiu had a good hand. The last hand I was at 64% chance of victory but the two pair has failed. Poker is so sometimes.

CP: What are your future plans?

Hansen: I’ll stay in Las Vegas for a few days, then return to Europe and I rilasserĂ² a month. I think I’m in good shape for success at the WSOP! Also coming out my book “Every Hand Revealed” in May and I plan many promotional activities.

CP: Thank you Gus Hansen and congratulations for your tournament.
