Gus Hansen’s blog – My plans for the WSOP
My plans for the WSOP 2008
In the last two weeks have been rather absent. Instead of updating my blog I preferred to play online to get around to party.
My WSOP are about to start. The first event that will play will be the World Championship Mixed Event $ 10,000, Wednesday 4 June.
Now it’s time for everyone to pull out the attributes and I’m ready.
I truly believe that my level of play in the tournament has never been better than now, so I feel ready to play at least 10 tournaments during the next month and a half. And believe me: this time I just want to win a bracelet! Obviously at the top there is the Main Event, but when I put in the program a list of 13 tournaments to attend.
This is my agenda:
Gus Hansen’s 2008 WSOP
Date Event Buy-in
Wed, Jun 4th World Championship Mixed Event (Event 8) $ 10,000
Fri, June 6th No-Limit Hold’em Shootout (Event 11) $ 5,000
Sat, Jun 7th World Championship Seven Card Stud (Event 14) $ 10,000
Mon, Jun 9th No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball w / Rebuys (Event 18) $ 5,000
Wed, Jun, 11th No-Limit Hold’em (Event 21) $ 5,000
Fri, Jun 13th World Championship Heads Up No-Limit Hold’em (Event 25) $ 10,000
Sat, Jun 14th Pot-Limit Omaha W / Rebuys (Event 28) $ 5,000
Sun, Jun 15th World Championship Limit Hold’em (Event 30) $ 10,000
Tue, Jun 17th World Championship Seven Card Stud Hi-Low Split 8-or-Better (Event 33) $ 5,000
Thu, Jun 19th World Championship Omam Hi-Low Split 8-or-Better (Event 37) $ 10,000
Wed, Jun 25th World Championship H.O.R.S.E. (Event 45) $ 50,000
Sun, Jun 29th World Championship Pot-Limit Omaha (Event 50) $ 10,000
Thu, Jul 3rd World Championship No-Limit Texas Hold’em (Event 54) $ 10,000
TOTAL $ 145,000

As you will notice are all events with buy-in of at least $ 5000. Because I do not want to participate in tournaments with lower buy-in, with thousands of subscribers.
I want to challenge myself in different specialties, as now I feel comfortable playing any kind of poker. I have to put into practice the experience gained by playing the high stakes mixed games in Bobby’s Room at the Bellagio, and the excellent results obtained in Omaha tables on Full Tilt and Horse.
Based on the results of my recent live events where I feel most favorite events are 11, 21 and the Main Event, all of No Limit Holdem.
I do not have fully understood my goals for this year. Last year I was pretty happy with my results that allowed me to close a small surplus, mainly due to my performance at the Main Event. This year I hope to make another strong showing in the Main Event final table and perhaps a one of the other events.
I conclude by welcoming to my friend Patrick Antonius in the team of Full Tilt, another European player who joins the team and will undoubtedly make its contribution.
